What a rush playing this game is! It's as much fun as it was when it was released back in the day! (yes! I'm that old). Been ploughing through Brutal Doom maps with the original Doom 2 wad, the Brutal Doom VR weapon pack and the Light resolution upgrade pack, and it's truely awesome. I'm even enjoying it as much as the Doom 2016 reboot for the OneX. I only initially put it on to test I'd transferred the wads over properly and to see if it worked. I was meant to have a sit down and a better play through of it tomorrow, but here I am writing this review 3hrs later (and that's only cause my quest and it's battery pack have run out of juice!) I knew this was gonna be good, having played Dr Beef's other Quest ports, Quake, Half Life, and one of my favorites Quake 2, but this has now knocked Q2 off of the top spot. Can see me playing this for a good while (much to the missus annoyance). The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is because there are a few minor bugs (sometimes the assault rifle goes all wierd and I can't get it back to normal meaning I have to reload the level and occasionally the monsters get stuck in a wall or door) but these happen very infrequently and may be an actual bug in the original code rather than the Quest port. Dr Beef has done it again and pulled off a truely epic piece of coding to make one of the most enjoyable Quest games I've played in a while (It's honestly better than some of the official stuff that has apparently passed through occulus QA?...) If this were a paid for piece of software I would have no hesitation on recommending you buy it right now, but as it's free.....it's a no brainer! Don't be put off by all the technicalities either, if you can work Sidequest, you can have this up and running (with the free mods) in no time. It even guides you as to what mods work with which maps or addon's as best it can, so you should have no worries. Tweak the controls to your liking (easy) and you'll be ripping and tearing within minutes. Be warned though...it eats your free time
