Pretty great start for an authentic tennis simulation!

I play a lot of real tennis so there are plenty of things that I'm nit-picky about; but this is definitely a good start.

  • A lot of the polish is already there- it's pretty easy to tell where there is and isn't polish, but it's exciting to see where this will go in the near future

  • The physics for volleying really just don't feel like they're there right now. I can't tell if that hasn't really been developed yet, but it makes it really hard not to send a volley careening well past the baseline

  • It's also a bit difficult to hit dropshots, and I think that may be because the game feels like it's making my backspin shots way faster than I'm swinging at them. I think this may just come down to the player being able to input the touch it takes to hit a ball like that, which is tricky to implicate with a VR controller

  • Lobs are by far the hardest shot to hit. No matter how hard I try I can't lob the ball up very high. This makes it really difficult to put a ball in play when I'm well behind the baseline, because my groundstroke drives don't feel like they have a whole lot of umph in them either

  • I played mainly with the teleport mode, but I almost found the joystick modes easier in some ways- it felt like the teleport mode was sometimes dropping me well inside no-mans-land for a ball that didn't make much sense

There's a lot to give feedback on but I also understand there's a lot of development to go. Overall this was still a really fun experience, since it seems like one of the bigger gaps yet to fill in the library of VR games is a realistic tennis simulator. I'm excited to see where this goes!

EDIT: I noticed that this became available on App Lab so I gave it a download. Seems the developers have made a lot of great changes to volleys, lobs, and backspin/touch shots overall, which is a huge step in the right direction! I really feel like I can hit excellent touch volleys at the net now. Of course, I do still have my gripes, but I feel like the experience is better overall.

  • The net physics are still pretty poor; usually, when my ball hits the net cord, it almost always barely trickles over, and the AI isn't able to make it to the ball, ending rallies pretty early. When I played this the first time, the ball hitting the net cord would cause it to fly into the air to never be seen again, so this is still an improvement

  • The teleport mode almost always teleports me to the net to hit a volley. It should either be less aggressive in general, or it should somehow be customizable, maybe

  • I don't think the AI is aggressive enough. Even when I give it an easy ball to charge the net with, it hits very passive, slow volleys/groundstrokes that stay within the service boxes

  • I really like the speed/spin indicators on the court, but the spin numbers are incredibly inaccurate. I've hit serves and overheads at 12K RPMs, which is pretty unrealistic

  • I feel like it's pretty hard to hit a topspin groundstroke from the baseline and get it over the net. It kinda feels like I can't give the ball enough power, and it's even worse when I'm on the run to get to a ball

  • The ball machine should either be more powerful or customizable, as the balls it fires don't make it to the baseline

  • The serving mode usually breaks for me. I'm not entirely sure how to reproduce the conditions, but randomly I won't be able to generate another ball in my hand, forcing me to leave and return to serve practice

  • This is more of an additive feedback note, but I think that adding an option to remove the non-dominant hand from the game would make it easier to hit two-handed backhands and backhand volleys

This game is getting a lot closer to a realistic simulation. Excellent work!
