While some last-generation-VR pet peeves remain, such as no full player body and long loading times, during gameplay there are several ways that the game tries to overcome this and actually succeeds in immersing you in this character. Unique VR mechanics such as reaching over your shoulder to pull off your backpack, cranking a small generator to charge your flashlight, even wiping condensation off your gas mask…things like that feel so cool to do with your own hands. In any other game this would just be done automatically or with the press of a button, but getting to do it yourself is exactly why I love VR.
