Installation of Doom 3

Before you start: You need to own Doom 3 (not BFG Edition) to play this port on your headset. The latest unified release on Steam includes the DLCs and also the needed original version of Doom 3. https://store.steampowered.com/app/208200/DOOM_3/

How to install the Basegame - Doom 3:

Installation is quick & easy! You just need to copy a few files over from your PC Doom 3 Steam installation to your VR headset.

Step 1: Connect your headset. Click "Sideload now" to install. Wait for Sidequest to complete.

Step 2: Start Doom3Quest once to allow folder creation. Give permissions if asked. It will close down after succeeding.

Step 3: Go to the "base" folder of your Steam Doom 3 (not BFG!) installation and copy over all the PK4 files listed below to "doom3quest/base" on your headset.

DLC Installation

Resurrection of Evil

Resurrection of Evil DLC needs the basegame installed in order to work.

Step 1: Go to "base/d3xp" in your steam installation and copy over all the PK4 files listed below to "doom3quest/d3xp" on your headset.

pak000.pk4, pak001.pk4

Step 2: Start up Doom3Quest on your headset.

Step 3: To play Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil, click "mods" and select "Resurrection of Evil".

Note: The DLC is not compatible with the optional HD Redux texture pack. Please delete before playing.

The Lost Mission

Lost Mission DLC needs Doom 3 and "Resurrection of Evil" DLC installed on your headset in order to work. "The Lost Mission" DLC is part of Doom 3 BFG Edition. (If you own the unified Steam version of Doom 3, you automatically own OG Doom 3, BFG, RoE DLC and Lost Mission DLC).

Since Doom3Quest is based on original Doom 3, you need to download a fixed version of "The Lost Mission" DLC from moddb that works with the original game instead of BFG edition.

Step 1: Download the Lost Mission DLC (fixed for OG Doom3) here: https://www.moddb.com/downloads/d3-lost-mission (Disclaimer: Team Beef is not the creator, uploader or hosting "Lost Mission for OG Doom 3 mod") .

Step 2: Download and extract the zip file to your PC.

Step 3: Copy lm_pak.pk4 to Doom3Quest/d3le on your headset.

Step 4: Start Doom3Quest, go to mods and select "The Lost Mission" DLC.

FAQ & Troubleshooting

Can i use the files on CD from the original box release? - Yes, but you likely need to update your files to 1.3.1 via the latest official id patch.

Does BFG Edition work? - NO, you need og Doom 3 from Steam or elsewhere.

Why don't I see the VR Options on the title screen? - Delete any foreign language files (zpak000.pk4, zpak003.pk4) in Doom3quest/base/. Don't copy them over in the first place.

The VR Cutscenes make me uncomfortable, what to do? - Switch to Projected Cutscenes in VR options.

My character seems to shrink sometimes - Press jump to fix it.

I don't like the IK full body! - Press right tumbstick to switch to hands only.

Does Multiplayer work? - No, though there is a slight chance we get it working in the future.

Is there a left handed mode? - Yes, see VR options.

The walking speed is to slow / fast! - You can change it in Vr options.

Pressing UI interfaces ingame doesn't work sometimes. - You can switch to gaze controlled UI in VR options.
