The 7th Guest was one of my favorite games from the 90s, I had it on the Philips CD-i. The experience of exploring Staufs mansion left you with your jaw dropping. I have to say, my jaw dropped again for this VR remake.

The mansion has never looked so good. You can almost smell the dust and cob webs as you explore the mansion once again. The game is not only supporting great graphics and sounds, but amazing puzzles as well. The puzzles are new and fresh, but still remind you of the old ones.

Is the game perfect, no. I did have issues with garbing and placing some items. I got stuck in a few places in the game, (stuck in walls, table), and had to restart the game a few times because the puzzles would not reset. It was nothing that would make me stop playing the game.

I played through and finished the game on the Quest 3 in around 6 hrs. That was with no hints from the spirit board. I am about 3 hrs in on the Steam copy, and only a few rooms into the game this time. The game is the exact same, I am just spending more time examining the mansion and finding all the Stauf coins. In terms of replay, once you have solved all the puzzles and found all the coins all that is left for playing again is speed runs and looking at all the painting and other details throughout the mansion.

If you played this game in the past, or always wanted to, this is a fantastic 7th Guest experience and should not be missed. The story will keep you wanting to learn more about Henry Stauf and the mysteries that unfolded within his house, and the puzzles should make any fans of the puzzle game genre happy.

Video coming soon.
