MOBILE GAME RAN THROUGH A VR PLUGIN
Man, I really want to like this.. the physics feel extremely good for a "mobile" game, it's not going to rival Dirt Rally 2.0 or the latest WRC, but for what it is, it's VERY good. Car customizations are pretty solid, again for a mobile game.
The audio could use some spice, but everything at least translates well, each car has a distinct sound and the move from gravel, to wet, to dirt is apparent and none of it is grating. 3D audio support in the Q3 would be amazing. Graphically it's forgivable, but lacks any real lighting or shadow effects, low rez textures, but it runs very nicely.
What ISNT forgivable is the microtransactional paygating that goes on for a $25 game. Repair car? You have to wait... Or you know "PAY." Achievement unlocked? You could get more by paying a monthly season pass.
The lack of control options is disappointing and only furthers the feeling this was always a mobile game first. There are no motion option or accessory/wheel support. No VR settings, no accessibility options. It's almost as if they took the free mobile version, with it's "in app purchases" dropped a VR plugin into their copy of Unity, hit compile and decided that was enough to charge $25 for it... That is bolstered by the fact that the mobile version keeps getting regular updates while this version appears dead on arrival.
I really want to recommend this, but the slap dash presentation and leech is continued support holds me back
