Although I haven't watched the TV series, I was intrigued to try out 'Peaky Blinders: The King's Ransom'. The game offers an approximately three to four-hour journey filled with a carefully crafted narrative, beautiful atmospheric visuals, great narration, and animations. It skillfully blends storytelling with shooting action and puzzles.
The game starts pretty slow but gets to the more exciting scenes and action where everything starts getting more exciting and fun.
For my review, I played the game on PC, connecting it with my Quest 3. Unfortunately, I encountered significant frame rate issues, necessitating a reduction in settings and resolution for optimal performance. Surprisingly, even with my setup - a 3070 Ti, 12th gen i7 processor, and 32GB RAM - I had to periodically restart to maintain a good frame rate. The absence of recommended requirements on Steam also raised concerns.
Despite these technical difficulties, a bug that required restart and some visual issues here and there, the game impresses with well-executed story-telling, fun shooting action, mini-games post-game content, and enjoyable exploration for collectibles. I recommend the game and hope for future updates to enhance PCVR performance. However, considering my experience, you might want to opt for the Quest installable version, which I have yet to review.
