This game is by far, my favorite game. It's very nearly perfect for me…ALMOST. But there are a few things that would make this so much more enjoyable for me, starting with the sky in practice mode. I don't understand the logic in making me play under a night sky. It's really, REALLY depressing, especially as I bought the game to get my golf fix during lockdown, when all I wanted to do was to go outside and play in the sunshine. It's ridiculously dark and foreboding, and it would really make me happy if you could give me an option to set the time of day so those who want to can play in the daylight. And it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if you included some palm trees that blow gently in sync with whatever the wind speed is set for, so when there's a foot of snow outside and there's ice on the street, my VR game makes me feel like I'm really golfing in California or Florida. The psychological impact that would've had on me during lockdown would've been immeasurable.
The other thing that would make me really super happy is some realistic haptic feedback from my club. I'm really missing the sweet spot on my club and that awesome, satisfying sound it makes when you connect just right with the ball. The realism that would add to my play would be amazing. I want to be able to feel the club touch the ball. I started feeling that way after I bought Beat Saber and noticed that the sabers are set to give the illusion of touching each other as they cross, or touch a wall by vibrating a little. You really feel like you're cutting those cubes, even though they're not really there. The controllers have been made to really feel like real sabers that have length and mass, and substance. Why can't I have golf clubs like that? Clubs that feel long and substantial, and give me haptic feedback when I touch the ball or clip the ground. Why can't they vibrate and make that awesome sound when I smack that sweet spot?
Lastly, I'm hoping you'll fix that hideous thing in practice mode that makes it impossible to get rid of that freakin ghost ball you get if you accidentally touch the ball before you're ready to play and it rolls a couple of inches away. It's incredibly frustrating having that thing sitting next to my live ball, not really there, but still visible. It bothers me enough that I'll happily end my practice session and exit back to the clubhouse to get rid of it. I shouldn't have to do that. I would love to be able to set it to disappear after so many seconds. In fact, I'd like a lot more control over all the balls on the practice green. If I've missed the shot, I'd have the option to pull the trigger and abort the play instead of having to wait for the ball to finish rolling. That way, if I want to see the final trajectory of the ball, I can. But if I don't, I can just tap the trigger, the play ends, and my new ball appears.
Better yet, if I missed my shot, I'd love to have the ability to teleport over to the ball, and put it into the hole. In fact, I'd love an option to reset the green and just play one ball at a time instead of seeing the green littered with dead balls. And being able to thumbstick teleport myself all over the practice green in the limited space of my bedroom would be freakin awesome. I could actually walk the whole green, even in the smallest of physical spaces. And if I could get a bucket of balls, choose my hole, and place balls wherever I want so I can practice making my shots from specific distances and angles, that would make this game just shy of perfect for me. Add some direction sticks to help me work on controlling my shots, and that would pretty much be my Xmas list for this game. All I'd have left to wish for would be my choice of real courses so I could actually play all 18 holes at Augusta or Pebble Beach in my tiny bedroom. Now THAT is some DLC I'd happily pay for.
