why do i have to sign into discord within sidequest to get verified for indie alliance?

can i not just verify any other way? i dont feel comfortable logging in through sidequest app, why isnt there a bot or an email or anything that dosent make me type my credentials within sidequest or just open a web page in discord already active on like chrome or even just open discord app.

Discord is an optional extra, but a convenient place to stay up-to-date with news, information, and support.
