Enable USB Debugging prompt not appearing in VR once connected

I have enabled dev mode and plugged my pc into my headset but the prompt "Enable USB Debugging" does not pop up. There is only a little notification that says "USB Detected. Click here to allow files" or something along those lines but when I click on it, SideQuest still says not authorized. How do I fix this?

I have the same issue, i plug-in my quest 3, download Sidequest dev mode on, and i still see Unauthorized: Allow in headset.

The pop-up does not say exactly what you would think and it pops up very quickly at the top of the screen. If you are moving between the VR and computer you will miss it. To fix this go to the bell at the bottom of your VR screen. It should have a dot on the bell. One of the messages should state USB detected. Click that option. Now when you go back to the SideQuest site it should be researching and connecting to the VR headset.

That "Bell" notification authorizes file access, but not debugging access. As a result SideQuest upper left notification remains as "Unauthorized: Allow in headset". Any suggestions for how to proceed?

Another message here recommended "Toggle debug mode off and back on again in the Meta Quest app. "

That worked for me: Two successive dialog boxes appeared in the Quest 3 display, and now SideQuest is connected and working.

by the way after it worked, (see below) i recognized the use MTP option in sidequest was set, probably cause i used that hedset with another machine before,
although never saw this setting persist
dis- and reconnect multiple times: somtime it persists , sometimes not.
could this have caused the trouble ?

i had the same issue after upgrading to windows 11 via fresh install
worked fine before with win 10 works fine with win10 on other PC

gave me allow usb only for file access, the quest showed up under my PC and i could accees the files,

but sidequest showed : unauthorized allow in headset

try'd a lot of things: restart, oculus adb drivr install,.. nothing worked
switching debug mode and then put on the headset did not work.
finaly switching debug mode while in the headset i got the allow debug prompt.

You must have a faulty USB cable.
