The open beta of Starvault has just been released! This is the first true Moba that were seeing on the stand-alone headset. I'm saying "true" because there's other VR mobas out there, but this one is a complete 5v5 match with a huuuuuge arena map with games that can last over 50 minutes sometimes. There's a lot to talk about today: some very exciting things, but also some room for improvement. So let's not waste any more time! Starvault's early access is out on May 15th, and is available on the Meta Quest 2, 3, 3S. The developers are Theia Games. I'm not too familiar with them, but looks like they previously released a game called Undead Quest. This new Moba seems to be the biggest project that they've tackled so far. Gameplay For the people who don't know what this Moba genre is, it's basically a real time strategy type of game. You're thrown in this big arena with 4 other team mates. You need to coordinate and strategize with them, and your main objective is to destroy your opponent's towers until you reach their base, which you have to destroy to win the game. On paper, this looks simple enough, but if you're new to this type of game, be aware that you'll need some patience to get good at it against other real people. You can't just go running and attacking your opponent mindlessly, it does require a lot of strategy. You also have different roles, and the team composition needs to be balanced. You'll have your attackers of course but a support character that can heal and protect your team is also important. It's also good to have a tank that can take a lot of damage up front, and there are also side characters like assassin's that can sneak up and kill you on the spot. We'll be going through what else you can do on the map, but first let's go deeper into what type of characters you can play as. Characters There are currently a total of 9 characters. You start with only 4, and get to unlock more as you keep playing. The crazy thing about these characters is that they're so unique, especially in the type of movement that they have, which reflect mechanics from very popular games in VR, and can only be possible in VR. Let's start with the most unique ones. HBV HBV is one of the most unique one because his movement is just like Gorilla Tag! Your controllers are your legs and you have to push the floor to move yourself. You can also jump by smashing both controllers on the floor. Your main weapon is a machine gun and you aim simply with your head by looking at your opponent. You also have other abilities like making a powerful shockwave when landing a jump, and a Artillery strike that does AOE damage. It's definitely a hard character to learn due to its movement. But it's a nice tanky character that's very powerful once mastered. Caleo Caleo is a pretty cool assassin. Her movement reminds me of a game called Sairento. She's a ninja character who can also jump pretty high, but if you tilt your head in a certain direction, you will perform a flip in that direction. It's great to dash to an opponent, or quickly escape an intense situation. You must have your VR legs though since the movement is pretty intense. She uses daggers, and you have abilities such as a poison dagger, and a cool ultimate where you hook your opponent while staying up in the air where you can do crazy damage to your opponent. RSD RSD is another robot character, but the crazy thing about him is that you can just fly around literally anywhere. You're basically playing a dog fighting game now. He can just shoot around. When you encounter him, it feels like a fly that you can't get rid of. He has an ability that allows him to fly extremely fast, and when you're in that mode, you can activate your ultimate and pulverize anyone in a line of sight. He can also put mines anywhere in the map. This is another character that will take me some time to master, but some people are really good with him. Johnes / Artheya / James Stern Now let me talk a little bit about a few characters that are more in my comfort zone. Johnes is a support character that can heal others around her, put a shield in front of the enemies and her ultimate is a stun Grenade. Her riffle can get upgraded and can also cause some nice damage. Artheya is one of my favorite character. She's uses a bow and arrow, and I really like her hook shot where she can hook and yank an enemy to her, or hook the terrain and yank herself closer to it. Very useful along with other arrow abilities. She's very easy to learn. James Stern is cool because of his rocket launcher weapon. It only has 6 bullets, and you have to reload it one by one manually, so it definitely takes a lot of planning to use him. He can also transform it to a shotgun up close. A very high damage character. There's a few other characters in the roster, but I didn't get a chance to try them yet, but they all feel very fun to play so far. What happens on the map? So there's a lot of things that you can do other than your main objective. It will look overwhelming as I talk about it now, but the tutorials do a really good job at easing you into it. The learning curve was not as difficult as other MOBAs that I've tried in the past. Once in a while, something called "The Arena" will start in the middle of your match. This is an event that happens in the middle of the map where you have to destroy enemies and collect the most token. Both you and your enemies can enter this place, so it can get pretty chaotic. The person who wins the arena gets a buff on your little minions who helps you destroy the towers, which can bring a big advantage to the fight, so it's very important to keep alert of this event. Around the map, you also see some healing towers. If you're running out of health, you can back off and reach one of these towers to heal up. You will also see some creatures lurking around the map. If you destroy them, you will obtain a permanent buff that will stack as you keep defeating them. There are also teleports that you can activate which will teleport you back to your home base. Speaking of your home base, there's a shop in there in which you can buy items that can increase some of your stats, or even trigger something very useful, like teleporting all of your allies close to you. Last but not least, there's those vision towers, and when you activate them, you get to see a lot more around the fog of war to know exactly where your enemies are at. So lots to do here to keep you busy. There's a little bit of a learning curve, but it's fun to improve after every matches. Graphics I just want to add that the graphics look great in the Quest 3. Given the large map that you play on, it's kind of impressive how much details you see around while the performance doesn't dip at all. I don't have much else to say about it, but I just thought that it was worth the mention. Issues Well guys, the game is still in open beta, so its bound to still have some issues. There wasn't anything too frustrating, but there are still adjustments to be made. For example, when I tried the titan during the tutorial, I got stuck in a certain section and couldn't move. Or when I wanted to practice with bots, for some reason, the towers had infinite health. But I believe that the developers might have already fixed this one. I was playing against real people this one time, and he managed to get HBV off the map, which was a little bit annoying and impossible to hit. There's also a game once where I've defeated the titan, but just couldn't transform into him afterwards. So you know, expect some little issues like this during the beta and early access, but given its state, it's not bad at all in my opinion. Well that's about all I had to say about Starvault! In its current state, the game is free to claim, and for now, there are no monetization. They will introduce this system close to the early access launch this summer, but the game will remain free to play. You can also expect the full launch to happen in early 2026. You know, I've played around 6.5 hours to get a good grasp of the game, but MOBAs are the type of games that requires a loooot of hours to sync in order to get a good grasp. I'm sure that I've only scratched the surface of it. I hope that you get to check out the game! And make sure to invite your friends since the more real people you get to play with, the more fun it is. Also, make sure to join the discord if you'd like to share your feedback with the devs. They're super active on there an open to any type of suggestions.

A GREAT NEW ADDITION TO MY VR LIBRARY A great rhythm game perfect for classical music lovers. I love that this game is quite challenging and it keeps me coming back. The visuals are stunning in VR but they are better in Mixed Reality as it blends very well with your real world environment. Custom songs are also available and they can be downloaded directly in-game which is pretty neat. The game has achievements which is always fun. I highly recommend this game if you love rhythm games.

You know, I didn't put a lot of thoughts into this game when I first heard about it, but after putting some hours in it, I was pretty impressed and surprised by how much fun it is. So we'll be going ahead and explain in detail what the game is all about. Let's get started. Battle Orbs is available right now on the Meta Quest 2, 3 and 3s. And you can get it for free! We'll talk later about how you can spend money in the game later. The developers are Mixrift who previously released a relaxing game that I really enjoyed called Fractured. This is a mellow, and very affordable 3D puzzle type of game that I recommend. But let's go ahead get back into the main course. Gameplay So Battle Orb is veeery easy to learn. When you start the game for the first time, you'll have a very short session with an orb explaining to you how to play. You're basically thrown in this arena with 4 types of orb. You and your opponent each get a turn, and every turn, you get to use a different orb. Your goal is to sling shot your orb and hit your opponent to do damage. And when all of your opponents orb are out of health, you win the game! Now, if this was it, it'd be a little too simple for me, and this is when the strategy comes in! Every orb that you see here all have special abilities. So you have to be wise in deciding which orb that you bring to the battlefield. A few example of some of my favorite orbs are the snake, who will poison every enemy that it touches and take damage on their turn. I really like the steam orb because at the end of his turn, he'll do a big steamy explosion and damage everyone that surrounds him. Then we've got the Paladin who heals everyone in her team at the end of her turn. Next one that I put on my team is the vampire, who heals himself after hitting an enemy orb. There's still an extensive amount of orbs that I haven't talked about. It's such a nice variety and you can pick any depending your play style. The strategy is nice because you have to chose carefully who you want to destroy first with the other team, because some orbs might be better than others. Something that I also want to mention is that it's not just about hitting the opponent once. If you're really good, you can hit the opponent multiple times by bouncing off a wall and hitting them again. Or other tactics like that. So far, the best I've seen is 3 hits on a single orb. A very simple way to explain the game is to think of it as if you'd be playing 3D pool by trying to hit specific balls. Between Battles So when you're not on the battlefield, you've got some management to do in the menu. First and foremost, after winning a match, you will gain access to a chest. But the chest can't be opened immediately. You need to unlock it first, which will require you to wait a certain amount of time. You have 4 available chest slots, but can only put the countdown on one at a time. Unlocking the chests will grant you gold, and orb cards for a specific class. And with these, you can increase the power of your orbs. So the next thing you need to do is to go in your collection and level up your orbs to increase their stats, since as you keep playing, you'll start going against stronger opponents too. In the collection, you'll also notice all the orb types that can be played with and how to unlock them. Some of them is just by being lucky and finding them in the chests, but some of them are also unlocked by progressing through the game and getting more winning points. The last section that you'll see in the menu is the shop, and this is where you can purchase an in game currency called green gems. With these gems, you can either unlock your chests faster, or even purchase new chests and unlock them right away. I've decided to spend a little bit of money on my end for fun, and the chests boosted my characters pretty significantly. This is all optional of course, but there's a little bit of a grind if you decide to do it without spending. Modes So the mode that you'll end up spending the most time in is ranked. You'll have 2 options here. You can play only up against one more player, or you can play with a total of 4 players. The rules doesn't change in either mode, you just get a lot more orbs that you have to destroy. Your rank score will increase if you reach first or second place, and decrease if you're lower. Since the game is still growing, you'll often be matched with bots, but I find that they do a pretty good job, I personally enjoy playing against them. And as your rank grows, you'll get harder opponents to compete against. So you always have to make sure to increase the strength of your orbs. The last mode available is simply to play with friends. Something I was worried about when I've invited a few friends to play was that my orbs might've been a little too overpowered compared to them. But I was happy to see that all orbs are adjusted to level 10 on a friendly match. So some of my best friends to play in VR with, ViperMark and Lord Beavis had some fun playing together and it was pretty well balanced. Who is this game for? Since this game is so easy to pick up, it just feels like it'd be a great game to play with friends and family of any ages. And since it's in mixed reality, it's also great if you're either trying a headset for the first time, or have been playing for a while. It's also very easy to setup. The game doesn't require any boundaries. When you start the game, it'll automatically figure out where they need to put the board, and then you can adjust it to your liking. They really made an easy and seemless experience here. What I'd like in the future. The game is now out of early access, and I hope that they continue to support it since it could be even more fun in the long run. The first change that I'd like to see is that right now, when you wait in the rank cue, they start matching you with bots within the first 10 seconds. Since the game is still fairly new, I'd like the waiting cue to be about a minute long before we start getting matched with bots since that gives a better opportunity to play with real people. It would be cool to get new orbs introduced as the game keeps growing, and even more cool if there would be some collaborations. Imagine having a gorilla tag, or an I am cat orb in there! More modes would also be awesome with different kind of ruleset. Like a team 2vs2 match or a team vs one big enemy or that has to be destroyed, or things like that. I would also love to see improvements on the grinding aspect of it. When you have 4 chest waiting to be unlocked, you don't really have a purpose to continue playing until they're unlocked. And I'd also love to see some cosmetics that you can unlock, like a new banner behind your name, or different costume for your orbs. You know, just little nice to have addition. So guys I hope that you've enjoyed today's review of Battle Orb and that it gave you a nice overview of the game. Give it a try if this peeks your interest and maybe you'll be like me and be surprised at how entertaining it is.

This game reminds me of pokemon in a great way! In Sword Reverie you get to use elemental swords against different elemental opponents. Along with that you will dive into a rather cool story focused on two characters who will help you along the way. Overall a solid game that will keep you entertained for a few hours!

Breaking out of prison sounds difficult enough, now you have to break out of space prison WHILE being chained to together with your "friends". I say it like that because this game will test your friendship and might ruin it by the time you escape! So, grab some flipper friends you can trust, use some solid communication, put in effort, and then try to get out! This really is a great game and it's free!
