Checking APK against blacklist

Hello,

I'm a VR dev, I usually use sidequest to install the test builds I have on the quest but recently it has been not working for me and im surprised that not many ppl are talking about it.

I cant get any of my test builds to pass the "Checking APK against blacklist".. they always time out.

please fix it soon, its a lot harder to dev for vr when we cant test what we are doing.

hi again.

it seems like the Ip address that sdq is trying to contact to checkout the blacklist is always down for some reason. probably that is the cause of it, I tried to use the IP address in the browser with and without the port, and the result is the same, it keeps trying for a minute then it taps out with " time out".

maybe the server is regionally blocked or just down.

Im not sure what is the " Checking APK against blacklist" actually does? does it check the hash of the apk only ? is my built being sent and stored somewhere?

I need to turn it off as my apk is definitely not in any of your databases as I'm the only developer of it so Im pretty sure it has no viruses or anything harmful.

please make a quick update to temporary disable it in the settings.

with that being said, I still can install the apk using SDK command and from the game engine directly, but not sure why side quest became so buggy.

i bet it has something to do with the server its trying to reach for blacklisting check, it seems to be always down

im using quest2 , connection is fine , i drag and drop the test build, it starts then get stuck at "Checking APK against blacklist"

Can you share a link to the APK file so we can test? It's working fine on this end so I can only assume it works fine for everyone else ( since we don't have any other reports ).

hello,

there is no way I could share the apk is about until the release for many privacy reasons, but if you know any apk that works from a well known source Im happy to test it out. if a certain settings in the game engine is what is causing it, I could probably find a way around that. but from the looks of it, it seems like the Ip address that sdq is trying to contact to checkout the blacklist is always down for some reason.

The address that SideQuest connects to is https://sdq.st which works fine on my end, can you try it on your end? If it works then it will redirect to the SideQuest website homepage.

You can try this APK file: https://github.com/SideQuestVR/Lite/releases/download/1.18/app-release.apk

Our black list check makes a hash of the file locally and then uploads that hash, the APK itself is not transferred or scanned in any other way.
