Update : Quest 3 color passthrough and controllers are now fully supported

Contour overlays digital artworks on top of real life surfaces like a paper sheet, canvas or wall, thanks to the Quest camera passthrough, so you can easily and accurately sketch your image before starting your actual paint job.

Whether you're a painter, designer, teacher, shop owner, or a just curious mind, Contour helps you with wall painting, canvas painting, street art, chalkboard, signage, or even wood carving !

Simply select your digital artwork, align your controller to the surface, and with the click of a button, you're ready to sketch. You can then use the many settings available to refine the position and look of the overlay at your convenience.

Important : Passthrough Limitations

Contour relies on Quest 2 / Quest 3 passthrough which is limited by the device cameras. It is best suited for transfering of the outlines of relatively large scale (A4 and above) artworks, not for the final paint job itself.

While Contour is best experienced Quest 3, hundreds of users have successfully used Contour on Quest 2, despite its Black and white, low resolution cameras with heavy distortion, but keep in mind it is even less adapted for precise drawing.

Importing your own artwork

You can import your own artwork to Contour (using the SideQuest file browser, Windows file system, or Android File Transfer on MacOS) by copying PNG exports of your vector arts in the Contour application folder located at

/Android/data/com.DDXR.Contour/files/

The recommended format is 1000*1000 transparent PNG files with large black or white outlines. The default real life artwork size being 50cm x 50cm, each pixel is half a millimeter large.

Restart the app for your PNG files to be loaded - they should show up first in the app.
