FEATURES:
- Up to 4-Player Co-op multiplayer
- Intuitive, enjoyable gameplay that's easy to pick up, effortless to continue
- Testing game for AI-Perfected Exercise, and lab-based fitness ideas
- Ongoing development at the VR Health Institute
In 2017, the VR Institute of Health & Exercise began working with the Kinesiology labs at San Francisco State University. Our goal was to publish scientific data on VR exercise so the world would know how good VR can be for you. Our students and researchers have published VR exercise research that's been cited by CNN, NY Times, WSJ, the Washington Post, and many others.
We've been lucky to watch the VR exercise space grow and take root.
But "fun exercise" is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what VR offers to the healthy lifestyle, and our team (both gamers and researchers), wanted to take a shot at implementing some of our own ideas about the future of VR and exercise.
WELCOME to Pacebreaker: An Experiment in AI-Perfected Exercise.
We believe that VR is more than just fun exercise. It's the first generation of exercise equipment where bio-feedback and artificial intelligence can change every aspect of your experience for the optimal, painless exercise. Does your heart rate need to go up? Enemies can become more aggressive. Did it go up too high, and need to rest?
VR experiences are the first generation of exercise equipment capable of responding to your immediate, personalized needs in exercise. Testing this idea - and all its applications - is the focus of our research and development.
Pacebreaker is being developed by the VR Health Institute and our sister org, The Healthy Empire, to be the most advanced demonstration of next generation exercise technology to ever exist... eventually.
Designed to be engaging, casual, and fun on the surface - the sort of game you can pick up and play with anyone - while also sitting atop our best efforts to create a game that can change its gameplay, difficulty, and intensity very gradually to maximize your exercise... without you realizing it.
PACEBREAKER IS A WORK IN PROGRESS...
Note: This is a full-featured pre-release build of Pacebreaker. It will be free-to-try so we can get feedback throughout Alpha and Beta development.
Pacebreaker is made by a small team made up of students, developers, researchers, and other people that love the possibility of exercise in VR and AR. Our goal is to initially put out alpha builds of Pacebreaker as we build on interesting and experimental gameplay and features. It's not complete and there's a lot we want to add to it, as well.
Please offer feedback and any thoughts about how to improve. We'll be releasing updates regularly.
