Our app is a little journey into the world of Virtual Reality, made to run on the Oculus Quest 2 headset. It is an art exhibition, all the art and textures are handmade and hand-drawn using various techniques. No photoshopping was used to enhance those images, they are all a direct representation of what the artist has intended. We only used photo editing software to resize and/or mirror some of the images. The images were either scanned or photographed, cut, then imported inside our virtual gallery.
Visiting our virtual reality gallery offers a little exploratory journey. You will:
o Awaken in a dark room . o Look around, find the light switch/button, switch the lights on . o Discover the first room, look at all the art and textures on the walls . o Grab the cubes, put them in the hole in the wall . o Hover the cubes around the hole for them to click into place . o Find the other switch/button, press it to open the hidden door . o Navigate the corridor, observe the paintings . o Discover the second room, observe the paintings.
How to control our Virtual Reality app
You can use our app standing up, or sitting down. If you’re sitting down, we recommend using a swivel chair but a normal chair will work too. Standing up will give you a more realistic experience, in the same way you would be walking around an art gallery. However, depending on your mobility, sitting down will work just as well.
o Move your head to look around with the headset . o Left controller thumbstick: Move forward / backward / strafe left and right . o Right controller thumbstick: Turn Left and Right. Move the grabbed cubes along the white line . o Index trigger Press: Grab cubes when hovering over them, when the white line appears . o Index trigger hold: Hold the cubes to move them around . o Index trigger Release: Drop the cubes . o Use Left or right hand to push switches/buttons . o Right Trigger Oculus Button: access to universal menu, use it to quit the app and return to the Oculus home screen.
Make sure to reset your position and stand in front of the Oculus Quest home screen before you start the app. This will set you to the right hight and the right positioning, offering you the best and most accurate experience.
Motion-sickness warning
Our app uses smooth locomotion. This is known to affect people that are more prone to motion-sickness. If you experience motion sickness or start to feel uncomfortable, remove your headset immediately. Open a window, take a lie down, it will eventually go away. Some people get used to it faster than others. Not getting motion sickness in VR is often referred to as ‘getting your VR legs’. It can take time and regular VR practice to get there.
