BiennaleVR - 01 is an online exhibition for virtual reality platforms, curated by Luca Carrubba and Eurídice Cabañes (co-directors of Arsgames), of experimental video games created by artists, designers, and creators. The authors present, with a diversity of techniques and resources, a reflection on fabulation as a key to understanding today's world. The different works that make up BiennaleVR - 01 expose and mediate diverse narrative and aesthetic universes that, through space, seek to take advantage of the characteristics of virtual reality.

The virtual collection of three video games, created by artists and collectives based in Catalonia, aims to propose truly interactive works in the hybridization of video games and contemporary art. As the name indicates, this project manifests the intention of starting a Biennial of digital art for VR devices especially designed for museums and exhibition spaces. With this, we want to broaden the possibilities of circulation of artistic proposals, socializing the most contemporary creation in a medium open to a diverse public.

This first edition of Biennale VR features the following works:

-- Audiogames (Carlos Padial and Bicélula): An interactive sound installation that allows players to experiment and carry out different activities in the three-dimensional virtual space using the sound space from a playful approach. Players interact with the game space and the objects that inhabit it through their virtual avatar, with the aim of interacting through technological devices and interfaces.

-- Resonant Spaces: WasteLands (Mathias Klenner, Sofía Balbontín and Joan Lavandeira): an artistic investigation that explores the creation of aural architectures through the intervention, recording and acoustic simulation of a series of abandoned infrastructures on the margins of memory and the urban.

-- Inercia (Mónika Rikić, Rodolfo Venegas and Xavier Maixenchs): A psychedelic sound experience that takes you through a tunnel of decisions in which each phase represents a phase of life. As you travel, you compose a haiku of words that defines what you have lived through as you move forward unstoppably until you reach the end.

This first version of BiennaleVR 01 has been developed by Joan Lavandeira and the Arsgames team formed by Deborah López Rivas and Víctor Rubio i Maturana. The project has been supported by the Departament de Cultura de la Generalitat de Catalunya.
