The boost lever issue is due to the fact there was an issue where moving one's hand too far from the stick while grabbing it would rip it completely out of its socket. There's a distance check which is a stopgap to prevent this from happening, but I'll try to come up with a permanent solution.
Thanks for pointing this out. I wasn't sure if players would find it problematic. This feedback is incredibly valuable.
Update: I finally figured out the boost stick issue. A very obscure physics parameter "velocity scaled" simply needed to be reduced.
The newest demo build 0.1.7 should have this fixed (uploading right after posting this comment).
When I have the time, I'll implement a targeting computer on the player ship.
