I had great hopes of playing a football/soccer game in VR in a realistic way, but those hopes were pretty much dashed. The premise of the game is great: being able to optionally connect the Quest controller to your foot and kick the ball to play the different games. It is optional, and you can just use the controller in your hands instead.

When it worked, it felt great, but most of the time, it didn't. I am not sure whether it's because I used the Quest 3 controller. Maybe the omission of the ring with the LED lights made it inaccurate. I couldn't try the Quest 2 because my controller is drifting, so it might be better, but I couldn't find out.

Please note that as of the time of this review, the game is in App Lab, so it's still in development. Other issues include the unrealistic feeling of kicking the ball (although adjustment sliders are available), the foot going behind the floor (should be its max Z axis lowest point, I think), bad AI (even with a little touch of the ball, the goalkeeper jumps), and some other looped animation inconsistencies.

Overall, it feels unfinished, and even using the controller in the hand felt much worse than using the feet-attachment option. I do hope that this can be improved with further updates.

I wonder how it would be in mixed reality using the Depth API (dynamic occlusion). Is it possible to use the Depth API for realistic collision detection?

If you have a Quest 2, give it a try and tell me if it worked better for you. There are instructions inside the app with recommendations on how to attach the controller to your leg. Do this at your own risk. I'm sure not everyone will be willing to go that far, but I did to be able to share my experience. Enjoy the game!

Hello, I understand the frustration. Especially that I play the game all the time without any problem. But I play using Quest 2. You can also find videos of someone playing using Quest Pro. I would expect Quest 3 controllers to be similar to Quest Pro, so should work correctly if mounted properly.

Here is what I know:

  1. Headset needs to track controller that is pretty far away from the head.
  2. When "shoe jumps up" that means headset stops tracking the controller or controller stops sending signals (I'm not hardware specialist) and goes to sleep.
  3. If controller lays properly it senses being held, and doesn't stop sending signals to the headset. That's why we have such detailed instruction on how to mount it. I expect there are some sensors on the controller responsible for various things.
  4. Oculus doesn't provide a way to send signals to the controller to keep it alive. At least not something I'm aware of.

There probably can be more reasons:

  1. You are very tall
  2. Quest 3 controllers have some energy saving mode enabled
  3. Battery on controller is low ....

If you wont find a way to mount the controller on the foot, then you can probably still mount it on the knee. But I you find, then please share it, so everyone knows how to do it.

To fully enjoy the game you need to train a lot, unlock Level 5 goalkeeper and lower the shot power in shoe settings to minimum.

I've mentioned MATCH MODE, that can be played with modes:

  • Precise/Assisted - using shoe to shot/pass the ball.
  • BUTTONS - using A,B buttons instead - in this mode you can just get rid of left controller and play with right one only. In match mode (in the opposite of other modes) you would need to move a lot, change directions etc, so ensure you have space around you.

Thank you so much. I tried mounting it also on the side of the leg but I'll try it again, I know I'll have a blast once it works for me. The time it did work for me it was incredible.

Thanks for the review. I can just add, that such controller problems are usually indication of wrong mount. Have you by a chance played the match mode? It would be nice to see review of this part (which is the main part of the game). And you can play the match with buttons, so mounting the controller shouldn't be a problem.

Hi, I couldn't even handle a kick well with holding the controller, it felt odd and even though I played with the kick sensitivity, I just couldn't get into it because of the accuracy, no matter if I used the mounting option (which I tried 2 options) and using the controller. I was fighting to play this game, because I really wanted to enjoy it. But it lead me to stop eventually. I'll try again with more mount variations to see if it works. Thanks for the comment.
