I had great hopes of playing a football/soccer game in VR in a realistic way, but those hopes were pretty much dashed. The premise of the game is great: being able to optionally connect the Quest controller to your foot and kick the ball to play the different games. It is optional, and you can just use the controller in your hands instead.
When it worked, it felt great, but most of the time, it didn't. I am not sure whether it's because I used the Quest 3 controller. Maybe the omission of the ring with the LED lights made it inaccurate. I couldn't try the Quest 2 because my controller is drifting, so it might be better, but I couldn't find out.
Please note that as of the time of this review, the game is in App Lab, so it's still in development. Other issues include the unrealistic feeling of kicking the ball (although adjustment sliders are available), the foot going behind the floor (should be its max Z axis lowest point, I think), bad AI (even with a little touch of the ball, the goalkeeper jumps), and some other looped animation inconsistencies.
Overall, it feels unfinished, and even using the controller in the hand felt much worse than using the feet-attachment option. I do hope that this can be improved with further updates.
I wonder how it would be in mixed reality using the Depth API (dynamic occlusion). Is it possible to use the Depth API for realistic collision detection?
If you have a Quest 2, give it a try and tell me if it worked better for you. There are instructions inside the app with recommendations on how to attach the controller to your leg. Do this at your own risk. I'm sure not everyone will be willing to go that far, but I did to be able to share my experience. Enjoy the game!
