Drakheir V2.4 Version Update Announcement

Hello Drakheirians,

After more than two months of intense development, we are thrilled to announce the release of V2.4!

This update addresses the tutorial and movement mechanics, both of which have been focal points in your feedback. We’ve carefully listened to your suggestions and made significant optimizations. Here’s what you can expect:

Remake of the Opening Content

We’ve revamped the opening content to be more immersive for new players. The optimized tutorial will now make it easier for everyone to learn the basic operations and various magic uses. Despite previous efforts to enhance the opening dialogues, we felt more improvements were necessary. This update includes a thorough overhaul of the opening levels, aiming to provide a fresh and surprising experience.

Locomotion Optimization

We are taking a risk when we decided to ditch the controllers and joysticks for any movement input. Figuring out how to navigate movements in-game using only hand gestures became a significant challenge. Over the past two years, we've experimented with numerous solutions, and in the latest version, we've finally found the best one yet. Allow me to introduce this groundbreaking movement method: "Space Grab." Imagine being able to grab the space around you with your hands and pull yourself along to move. I have to say, it's incredibly cool.

Through extensive internal testing, everyone agrees that compared to previous methods, the new movement system causes less motion sickness, is less tiring over long sessions, and feels very smooth during combat. We highly recommend all players give it a try. Come and experience it for yourself!

Combat Optimization

The intensity of in-game battles has stressed some players, so we've optimized the combat. Now, finding cover or dodging ranged attacks will be smoother, giving you more time to cast skills calmly.

Ninja Sign Optimization

Hand Signs will now have clearer prompts, especially beneficial for senior magicians. Seals are crucial for triggering high damage in combat. We've made them faster and smoother to execute and even added a new batch of hand signs. Let’s see who can pull off the coolest seal!

We hope these updates and improvements enhance your gaming experience.

Please continue providing feedback, as it is invaluable for further optimization and adjustment of the game content.

Drakheir (still in ALPHA as of the time reviewing it) blew my mind. First of all, the visuals are absolutely stunning. Seriously, that's exactly what I want to see on the Quest for a game like this. Let's admit it, the hand-tracking on the Quest 2 is far from perfect, and there are hiccups when it comes to consistency with different hand gestures. That being said, it overall worked very well, and the pace of the game with the right hand gesture led to a good overall experience. Unfortunately, the game crashed once, which was frustrating. But considering it's in the alpha stage, that's completely understandable. Another thing that I didn't like is that the fairy kept repeating the same voicelines, which was annoying - and as you know, I love fairies :) Aside from that, the gameplay loop, graphics, music, mechanics, and roguelite elements all blend into a fantastic game. Although the game is more forgiving when you die (you don't start all the way from the beginning), it still felt challenging to a degree (I'm sure it will be harder as you progress) and, most importantly, fun! I highly recommend downloading and giving it a try. Honestly, I was surprised at how good it is, and I'm sure that with more updates, it will become one of the must-play games for the Quest 2! - INCREDIBLE!

This game is so much fun i had to do an updated review. This is the ultimate spell casting game and if your into magic or being a wizard in anyway, shape or form download this game now! It uses hand tracking and is by far the best use of it i have seen so far. There are a ton of updates to not only the spell casting but enemies and environments. If you tried it before and liked it, now is the best time to jump back in!

Drakheir is one of the coolest ideas for a hand tracking game in Virtual Realty there is. The game puts you fighting against waives of enemies using your hands to cast spells like a battle mage to take them out. The game has great elements of story which makes you just want to keep playing. The environments are vast and beautifully crafted. It also has great voice acting with amazing character design. The only bad part i see at the moment with this game is some of the smooth locomotion that is used as one of the options for movement was a big buggy. There is also a bit of lag when multiple spells are being casted, but these are both issues that are being worked on as I write this. DOWNLOAD THIS GAME NOW AND TRY IT! YOU WONT REGRET IT! The future for this game is going to be a wild one!

Drakheir has an extensive tutorial that will let you get a look at the many different spells you'll be able to cast later on in the game, and there are indeed quite a few. Each spell cast uses a different hand gesture with impressive visuals to boot. Once you hop into the main story, you'll be guided by a fairy through linear levels while facing off several different elven enemies. The enemies are are pretty adept in combat and will keep you on your toes. As you move through the levels, you'll periodically come across a guide who will give you new spells. The voice acting is spot on the while a bit cartoony in the visuals dept. it still looks pretty good. The game uses a unique movement system with either teleport or free locomotion as options. For a free game this is def worth checking out.

As the others have said this is an awesome gesture based magic game!! The gestures arent complicated so they can be learned easily, just make sure you go at a slow & steady pace. (We all know the hand tracking isnt the best on Oculus quest’s, so fast movements don’t register ). I like that there is teleportation as well as ‘locomotion w/head direction’ - that took some getting used to! This is definitely a stand up game when it comes to the locomotion due to the head location of when activated . Like that you can turn the locomotion on/off, big help when it comes to combat! The devs did a really great job on this & i am absolutely looking forward to all future updates & eventually a release! Please keep at it devs & best of luck to you peeps!! 2nd & 3rd play thru - definitely a stand up game, i did much better on these play thrus standing up. Couldn’t get the snap spell to work & the axe is difficult to grab, but the hand spells overall worked much better! Suggestion - Maybe the scrolls & axe or sword on your waist can get a little bigger / pop up when your hands are in the right spot to grab them, so we know when our hands are where they are supposed to be?? I just had a really difficult time trying to grab them.
