Finish Him in VR
If you are a Mortal Kombat fan and own a Quest, you have to try this game out. Its not a flawless victory, but it is fun and a good workout. I love Mortal Kombat. I would play it all day in the arcade, and had a copy of it for pretty much every game system in the 90s. When I noticed there was a VR port of MK2, I had to try it out.
The opening sound track of the game, fills you full of the 90s Mortal Kombat pump. The game offers a total of 10 characters from the MK series, and a hand full of levels. There is even the tower you have to climb to fight Goro.
The character models look really good. A few of them like Johnny Cage and Baraka look nice, but have to much shadow effect on them. There are some recognizable levels in the game that will bring you back to the 90s, like Goro's lair and the living forest. Over all the graphics are pretty good. It's not AAA MK10 graphics, but they are still good and remind me of the models from MK4.
The game's sounds are sweet. The music is there, the announcer's voice, Scorpion yelling "get over here". The MK vibes are there.
The controls are easy to use, but there was times you would walk through the other player and it is hard to tell when punches are landed. Some feed back in the controls would help for contact.
The game has fun factor, and a workout. I really enjoyed playing Mortal Kombat in VR. Seeing the characters in VR and hearing the announcer's voice call out "Finish Him" in the MK world was great.
I love fan made projects like this. It's nice to see MK get a VR port. If you played Mortal Kombat in the 90s, you have to play this port of it. It's not flawless, but its some great Mortal Kombat vibes in VR. I hope to see it grow and develop.
